I went thru boot camp in June of 1980. It was the best experience of my life. And I met some great men and women . I would love to find my year book from then. If anyone knows how to find it. Please let me know.
I heard they poisoned the water and land for many generations to come. This area is one of the warmest subtropical mountain ranges in America and supports many unique species.
I went to MP school here in April 1998 Bravo 795th MP Co. I hated every second of it but now I wish I could go back to that time and do it all over again. They shipped me to South Korea to 188th MP Co for a year after graduation.
I was stationed here in 1956 - 1958. I was with the 1st Radiological Safety Support Unit or RSSU for short. We supported the Atomic Bomb tests in Nevada and the Marshall Islands with film badge management, decontamination service, and off site radiation measurments. I witnessed over two dozen tests. In between tests we went back to McClellan our home base. It was good duty and good pay while it lasted. Went back in 2013. The place had changed dramatically in over 55 years.
Did basic and AIT here 97-98 I met some amazing ppl and have some awesome memories. The chemicals were the worst part, but I'll never forget the experience I plan on visiting the site one day
